Top Mac Single Player Games

I have a 165hz 1440p monitor with a good enough rig to complement it. This is what I run most of my games out so you'd understand that I prefer better graphics and good gameplay.I've played both.

Current trends within gaming can indicate the decline of fantastic single player experiences. Some could say that there is a bigger push to see multiplayer focused video games with game modes mimicking the success that PUBG or Fortnite brought out into the public. With that said, we’re still hoping to see brand new IP’s and new installments to some of our most beloved single player campaign narrative video game titles.

If you’re looking to enjoy something new without having to focus on jumping online or gathering a group of friends then check out our list below. We’ve compiled thirty of our favorite single player video game titles that were released in this latest generation of consoles. Hopefully, you’ll find something new to play. Likewise, being that this list will be updated frequently, we don’t have a list ranked in any particular order. So feel free to leave a comment below of your own top ranking games in your opinion that people should check out.

#45 Life is Strange 2

Dontnod Entertainment may be best known for their work on the Life is Strange franchise and while Life is Strange 2 had a long wait between episode releases, you can now enjoy the full game. All of the episodes have been released and best of all, if you’re a newcomer to the franchise, you don’t have to play Life is Strange, Before The Storm, or really Captain Spirit, to enjoy this installment. Life is Strange 2 is a narrative-focused game and it presents players with an assortment of choices throughout the campaign.

Depending on your choices will determine how the game plays out and of course the ending you will receive. We’re not going to spoil anything for you especially since this is an episodic game that really thrives on the narrative. As a small premise, this is a mature story revolving around two boys that are on the run from the authorities.

#44 Dreams

Dreams from developers Media Molecule is a unique game that I think may cater to certain players. It’s less of a game and more of software full of assets that will for user-generated content. We’ve seen some really incredible pieces of art, video games and even copycat creations of other iconic titles from the past. You’re given everything you would need in order to make whatever you’d like. With that said, you can enjoy creations made by others, but if you rather enjoy something alone and simply create then you can’t go wrong with picking up a copy of Dreams.

#43 Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a beloved simulator game that was developed thanks to the inspiration from the Harvest Moon franchise. Much like the long-running franchise, players take control of an old farm where you must get it back into a fruitful state. Outside of maintaining the farm which will consist of you dealing with harvesting crops and raising livestock, you’ll also be able to interact with the people that live within the town. This is a chill and relax style game which has become a massive hit. Likewise, the game is available on several platforms so you can enjoy it on consoles, PC or even your smartphone. While we are putting this game as a single-player title, it’s worth noting that you can enjoy multiplayer with up to four different players

#42 Far Cry New Dawn

Note: Spoilers for Far Cry 5

If you enjoyed Far Cry 5 then you know that the ending leaves you hanging. At the end of the game, you find that the world is on the brink of collapsing due to the end of the world and you find yourself stuck with the antagonist where the game ends following credits. Now if you’re hoping to find out what happens after the credits roll and what has happened to Hope County after the nuclear blast then you’ll get the opportunity in Far Cry New Dawn. This title takes place seventeen years after the events of Far Cry 5 where you will find returning characters from Far Cry 5 and the result of the protagonist and antagonist of Far Cry 5.

With Hope County mangled and distorted by the nuclear blast, players will find new landmasses to explore. Survivors have started to rebuild the world but a new threat of bandits has prevented Hope County from truly being free from tyranny control. Players will be stepping up to free up outposts and preventing from the new bandit group controlled by twin sisters from destroying Hope County and the innocent citizens who dwell within it. While the game does offer multiplayer, it’s still a solid single player experience. However, this game may really not be for everyone. If you enjoyed Far Cry 5 and want more of it then this is a game for you. But, there are some who found Far Cry 5 to really not be up to par with the franchise and if you fall in that category then this will be a title you’ll want to pass out.

#41 Dragon Age: Inquisition
  • Developer: BioWare Edmonton
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
  • Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, X360, XBO

The third major installment to the Dragon Age franchise, Dragon Age: Inquisition is an action role-playing video game where players take on the role of an Inquisitor who is on a grand journey to deal with the civil unrest in the continent of Thedas.

While developers have set the game to be on the same continent of the past two installments, exploration for Dragon Age: Inquisition is rather massive in comparison. For instance, it’s been noted that the game features a map that is already five times larger than the setting of the first installment of the series. With all that said, you’ll want to set aside some time to really dive into the video game.

#40 Batman: Arkham Knight

If you’re coming from Batman: Arkham City and looking to get a bit more of the caped crusader then Batman: Arkham Knight is one title not to miss out on. The video game acts as a sequel to the Arkham City release where the game picks up one year following the Arkham City events.

Within the game, Scarecrow had unleashed an attack on Gotham City causing a massive evacuation. Teamed up with a mysterious enemy known as the Arkham Knight, Batman is left within a barren city filled with his greatest foes.

Much like Batman: Arkham City, Arkham Knight allows players to freely transverse through the world map and take on additional side missions. Likewise, developers, Rocksteady Studios introduced a new element to the franchise, the Batmobile.

Batman’s famous vehicle is not only used to help our hero to travel throughout the city, but also a means to solve puzzles along with acting as another combat tool.

Sometimes it’s nice to sit back and enjoy some video games on your own. There’s no need to jump online and get a gang of friends together for raids or matches. Instead, if you’re looking to enjoy some great video games that allow you to progress at a pace of your choosing then we suggest looking at some of these upcoming video game titles of 2019. These titles are slated to launch at some point in 2019 though there is always the possibility of a video game title being delayed into 2020. Likewise, there are always more video games being announced throughout the year so you’ll want to check back for new updates.

The Outer Worlds
  • Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
  • Publisher: Private Division
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: 2019

Obsidian Entertainment is a well-known and beloved video game development studio after they have released countless iconic RPG titles. For instance, the developers were responsible for Fallout: New Vegas and during The Game Awards 2018 came the announcement of The Outer Worlds. This is a brand new experience which resembles a bit like their past Fallout: New Vegas work. Within the game players will be embarking on an adventure set in the distant future where mankind has colonized space. So far we know that players will be investigating megacorporations to find just how strong of a hold they have on life and the colonized worlds.

Just like with past RPG titles developed under Obsidian Entertainment, the gameplay narrative will present players with multiple answers and options. Depending on the options selected may result in various branching storylines. Unfortunately, we don’t have to many details regarding the game narrative and gameplay mechanics. However, as mentioned, this is an RPG adventure so players can still expect to see various customization options and a massive world to explore.

In The Valley of Gods
  • Developer: Campo Santo
  • Publisher: Valve Corporation
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: 2019

Campo Santo is a new video game development studio who only has one video game title within their library so far, however, that one title helped put this development studio on the map. You’ve likely either played or heard of their 2016 video game release, Firewatch, a game that followed a narrative journey of a forest fire lookout named Henry.

Throughout the journey, we learn more about Henry and his decision to take a rather lonesome job. Since its release, Campo Santo has been acquired by Valve Corporation though they will continue to work on their upcoming title, In The Valley of Gods.

This is another narrative journey with the setting taking place in 1920 Egypt. Players step into the shoes of Rashida, a former explorer and filmmaker that has been disgraced. Now, Rashida has one last chance to make a big discovery and fulfill her love of adventure, but she will have to seek help from Zora, a former partner she swore to never work with again. If this is anything like Firewatch, the title will be a great single-player adventure title where you can roam the level and enjoy the views while also progressing through the narrative story.

The Sinking City
  • Developer: Frogwares
  • Publisher: Bigben Interactive
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: June 27, 2019

The Sinking City is a game that was originally meant to be Call of Cthulhu until developers, Frogwares, decided to make their own creation. Now this heavily inspired H.P. Lovecraft title is something that has plenty of gamers eyes focused on for a release in June of this year. Players will follow a private investigator by the name of Charles W. Reed who is in New England seeking answers to why the city has been suffering from massive floods. From the look of the teaser trailer, there is clearly something supernatural affecting the area and a dark mystery that will need to be unveiled.

This is a single-player focused video game and its one that will likely have you drawn in. Players will be exploring a city as you attempt to learn what is causing all of this havoc throughout the area. Likewise, in-game mechanics may potentially change simply from the choices and actions you make as your progress the narrative.
